Welcome to the eighth in a new series of blog posts here on BeSecureOnline. In this series we take a comprehensive review of the user safety information provided by social networking sites. Each site is scored across five key attributes:
In this instalment of the series we turn our attention to Plenty Of Fish (POF).
For a company boasting up to 80 million users/app downloads and nearly 2 million active swipes/views per day, Plenty of Fish (POF) appears to have little or no interest in user safety and security. It is amazing how the company, its investors, users, law enforcement and oversight agencies permit this.
These are not even worth commenting on, as what should be a comprehensive text comes to a mere 14 points, many of which are obvious and generalised. There is limited international context and it is very difficult to find the safety centre, not that it is even worth looking at!
The safety and security content is a very poor expression of its concern for the millions of users who visit/ use the app daily.
That concludes our summary of the various safety centres of the best known social networks including Snapchat and Facebook. People need to be aware of the dangers of phising, cybercrime and hacking as many of these sites are under constant threat from scammers and hackers.
Antivirus and malware software is the first step in preventing phising, hacking in addition to taking care to follow our recommendations in this series.
